Standing Committees

The Chairperson, subject to the approval of the majority of the CCDEC, shall appoint the committees and committee chairpersons necessary for the work of the organization, including both standing and ad hoc committees. Each member of the CCDEC should serve on at least one committee.

Standing Committees include the following:

  1. Finance and Audit Committee
  2. Community Outreach Committee
  3. Social Media and Information Technology Committee

Duties of the standing committees are as follows:

Finance and Audit Committee: The Finance and Audit Committee works to ensure the Party’s finances and budgets are properly maintained and are in full compliance. Despite our name, we’re really the “Event Planning Committee” and we take responsibility for raising the money that the Cabell County Democrats need to cover their annual budget. The funds that we raise each year allow our county party to take a multifaceted approach to driving Democratic turnout and promoting progressive policies in our county.

Community Outreach Committee: The Community Outreach Committee organizes a Democratic presence at public events and connects potential volunteers to other committees and campaigns. We strive to provide an approachable space to discuss issues and express concerns at every fair, parade, and gathering.   We provide basic information at these events on where and how to volunteer, what issues are currently working their way through the election or legislative process, and where to obtain more information. We seek to take the anxiety and hope that voters feel and transform it into something productive and rewarding.

Social Media and Information Technology Committee: The Social Media and IT Committee is dedicated to presenting the Cabell County Democratic Party values across all online platforms, notably Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and this website! We close technological gaps that the committee perceives to be critical in improving Party operations. The committee is project-based, based on requests by the Executive Committee or from great ideas that committee volunteers have brainstormed.

We’re always looking for volunteers to help us with our committees. If you’re interested in working on a committee, please fill out our volunteer form.
